Direct Part Marking (DPM)

Direct Part Marking with a bar code symbol has increased in use in recent times. This is due to the need for traceability of parts history (manufacturer, materials used, etc) years after parts have been put into service.

Spirit Data Capture has a range of DPM barcode readers from Manufacturers including Cognex, Indata Systems and Motorola. These products are capable of reading barcodes that have been produced using the following DPM processes:

• Dot peening
• Laser etching
• Molding
• Casting methods

These can be used on multiple substrates, including:
