Here are two example of how a mobile device might be used: Food hygieneThe mobile computer gives details of the work, including the address and the aim of the inspection. The operator can input information such as arrival at the correct destination and the areas inspected. He can also note down any actions required (such as failure to comply with specific regulations and the need to send documentation such as training leaflets or general food safety information). Pest controlThe operator can enter details of any special risks involved to himself (including the need for specialist equipment); to other people; or to the environment. He can say whether or not the job can be safely completed and can make notes on his progress. He can set a date for a revisit if required. The mobile computer can also be used to enter the cost and payment details and any additional information or recommendations.

These work on a message-based system that sends, receives, deletes and updates jobs in real time.
