Business Analyst

Location: Sutton Weaver, Cheshire
Salary: Negotiable, commensurate with salary and experience

We are currently looking to recruit a Business Analyst to work in partnership with the Programme Delivery team alongside designers, solutions architects and other Business Analysts.

You will work across multiple stages of the project lifecycle to take customer and business propositions, critically evaluate them and develop and agree an end to end customer and technical design (with full specification level deliverables for entry to build followed by a level of support through the project lifecycle).

To be considered for this you will be a Business Analyst with recent exposure to a software engineering and development environments, ideally in Mobility based software systems.

In addition you will have:

  • Strong core BA skills including requirements elicitation, process design and specification documentation alongside knowledge of BA techniques.
  • Deep Business Analysis experience preferably having worked on software related projects and programmes. (Ability to demonstrate a keen interest in, and knowledge of the customer and commercial aspects of Enterprise mobility software and strategic channels).
  • Software engineering and process experience. The ability to demonstrate solid knowledge of software products, processes and tools.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with business and senior stakeholders to manage objections and approvals efficiently across the range of product, channel, legal and compliance stakeholders.
  • Able to work within a fluid environment to derive clear requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage analysis across large scale portfolio of initiatives.
  • Effective performance management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate under pressure and work within multiple work streams.

Personally you will be a disciplined thinker and capable of working across organisational boundaries in a very demanding, high-output environment. You will have outstanding organisational skills, attention to detail and accuracy is essential. Must be pro-active, adaptable and results driven. You will be a team player who must be able to work under pressure, juggle multiple projects, using own initiative and motivation to meet deadlines and set priorities without close supervision.

Due to office location, own transport is highly recommended.

Senior Software Developer

Location: Sutton Weaver, Cheshire
Salary: Negotiable, commensurate with salary and experience

We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Software Developer. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the software solutions team. He/she will focus on product development for new and existing customers and will use their expertise in mobile development to drive and implement new ideas and concepts. He/she will work to a detailed customer specification, and will be required to produce detailed software functionality specifications, design & test strategies, leading to full testing and implementation.

Candidates will be expected to play an important role in the design, implementation and release of Spirit’s off-the-shelf software products and in creating client specific bespoke solutions. He/she should be able to maintain and develop a high level of product and technical knowledge in relevant areas to support the software design role.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years professional experience in a relevant industry and be able to demonstrate expertise in the following areas:

  • A background in object oriented application development using Microsoft C# and the Visual Studio 2008/2010/2012 IDE
    • A sound knowledge of Microsoft C#/Microsoft .NET 3.5/4/4.5
    • Knowledge of Microsoft C#/Microsoft .NET compact framework 2.0/3.5
    • Experience with development of middleware systems and front-end frameworks
    • Experience of development on PDAs running Windows CE & Windows Mobile 5/6.1/6.5
  • Knowledge of remote data and RPC technologies
    • Experience with REST-ful and SOAP/XML web services
    • Experience with Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience with some of the following frameworks and toolsets:
    • WinForms, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), WebForms/MVC and Silverlight
    • ORM Frameworks (Entity Framework, NHibernate, etc.)
    • Inversion of Control containers (Castle Windsor, Ninject, etc.)
    • Logging (Log4Net, etc.)
    • Third party control libraries (DevExpress, Infragistics, etc.)
  • Experience with relational data storage technologies
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL
    • Experience with mobile data stores such as Microsoft SQL Server Compact, SQL Lite, etc.
  • Technical knowledge of mobile data networks, such as GPRS/EDGE/UMTS and other network topologies.

The following experience is desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience with any of the following mobile platforms
    • Windows Phone 7/7.5/8
    • Android
    • Apple iOS
  • Knowledge and implementation experience in the application of the following:
    • Design patterns: N-Tier, MVC, MVVM
    • Queuing and service bus: MSMQ, nServiceBus and so on.

Together with these technical abilities, candidates should show:

  • Experience of working in a controlled software development environment
  • Knowledge of source code management systems and processes
  • Experience of software testing and use of automated test suites
  • Ability to assist and mentor junior developers
  • Ability to use core applications (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, MS Project)

Candidates must demonstrate a process oriented and high quality approach to their work. A flexible 'can do' attitude, good organizational skills, and a sense of pride in the job are a must. Candidates must be comfortable both with working alone and with working in a small team and discussing projects and solutions directly with customers as well as being able to communicate with suppliers.
